The Shared Care with GPs program provides therapeutic counselling for people aged 18 to 65 who have been diagnosed with a low prevalence, severe and highly complex mental health issue. This includes conditions such as:
- psychotic disorders
- bipolar affective disorder
- personality disorder
- severe depression
- severe anxiety
- severe eating disorders.
Specialist mental health clinicians will consult and work closely with you and your GP to ensure you receive clinical treatment tailored to meet your individual mental health needs and ensure continuity of care.
Appointments usually last for an hour and are held at the NHN office in Edinburgh North or at the treating GP's practice where posiible. The appointments are free of charge.
To be referred to the Shared Care with GPs program, you need to visit your GP who will complete a Mental Health Treatment Plan (see download link below).
