The 24th NHN Annual General Meeting

_DSC7173On Saturday 14th October 2017, the NHN successfully convened its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Dinner at Sanctuary at the Adelaide Zoo and officially concluded the 2016/17 financial year.

Caroline Winter, ABC Reporter was our MC for the night. Caroline warmly welcomed all guests and attending staff at the beginning of the event and introduced to Auntie Georgina Williams to conduct a Welcome to Country.

Dr Richard Heah, Chairman and Mr Sageran Naidoo, CEO of the NHN gave speeches, both highlighting the key activities and achievements during FY 2016/17.

The NHN released two documents at this year’s AGM that help to tell the story of the past year. The Annual Report tells the complete story of what the NHN has done across a financial year to achieve the vision of providing Better Care, Better Health, whilst the Annual Report Snapshot acts as an easier-to-read infographical snapshot of the NHN world and performance over the last year. Sageran said “the common thread that binds the stories and the number together is our attempt to map the culture of the NHN and what we do to live our values each day. These two documents paint the picture of how we do what we do.”

Mr Naidoo also spoke of the Board and management team’s production of 7 guiding documents that enabled the NHN to chart a course through the immense challenges of changed funding and policy imperatives. A 35% increase in revenue; broader service footprint that includes Coutnry and metro SA; a 17% increase in referrals; a 38% increase in the number of active mental health clients and a 14% increase in the number of Aboriginal clients all point to a successful year for the NHN. Sageran said “the growth and expansion is the result of careful planning by the Board and Management.”

The night was filled with vibrant music and a joyful atmosphere, lots of laughter, and great food. One lucky GP walked away with an iPad as part of our GP-only lucky door prizes. We also hosted a raffle draw in support of the Doctors for the Environment organisation and concluded with a dance session at the end. On behalf of the NHN, we would like to thank all guests and staff for joining us in this special occasion and we hope to see you again next year! A special thank you to all sponsors of this year’s AGML Benson Radiology, Calvary Central Districts Hospital and The Memorial Hospital.
